In Late February and early March I wrote two articles pertaining to the war in Ukraine. In one of them I laid out a possible negotiating strategy. I realized, as I think few others had at that point, that it was not possible for Ukraine to win a war against Russia. How would they? Drive off the Russian from their lands and then move on to capture Moscow in order to put an end to the threat permanently? Had Ukraine even managed to eject the invading Russian army from its territory it would only put the world on a hair trigger with Russian forces sitting on Ukraine’s border perpetually in a position to strike further into, at that point, a very nervous Europe. Did Ukraine actually believe the U.S. would intercede and risk thermo-nuclear war? Was it all along a game of Zelinsky pocketing his share of the profits?
There was a point before Russia invaded it which a deal could have been struck between Putin and Biden when they met. I suspected at that time that this was a waste of time because America’s goals were both profiting from the war and geo-political positioning. Those neoliberals that worship Reagan as their patron saint perhaps thought they would bankrupt democratic Russia as they did the Soviet Union. NEWS FLASH: Russia is now capitalistic and capitalists that have their own oil benefit from war they do not lose from it. If they gain anything in the war that covers the cost and as for their arms manufacturing segment, they win regardless. Any attempt at any point before the war started of genuine negotiations would have only antagonize one of the most powerful factions in the American deep state the arms industry. Not to mention their collaborators in the military and the globalist factions of the deep state. Together these three factions alone likely compromise about three quarters of the political clout in the nation. The remaining control sector surrounding the pharmaceutical industry and a few other factions like banks and Wall Street would likely see a benefit in war also. The pharmaceutical industry also profits from war as well as does Wall Street and the banks.
We have to look at this war from the diplomatic perspective not just the neoliberal perspective of conquest by finance, but we don’t. Neoliberalism is a quasi-religious, economic philosophy that survives like a cancer by feeding off living organisms. Since the neoliberals have long since taken control of the media and the universities, we are no longer capable of seeing the world through anything but their lenses since they have done well in attempting to control all input. Neoliberalists who now control most of the world’s wealth go through life with ideological blinders on. Presently, like a cancer neoliberalism’s self-destructive propensities can’t be dealt with without causing great damage to the societies in which it feeds on. Like a cancer it has one mission to get bigger even if this means the destruction of the host and itself. Were this not the case perhaps we could see the world through the prism of logic and common sense and see our own self-destruction coming at the hands of neoliberalism. Ukraine could’ve been easily handled diplomatically instead it was the neoliberal instinct of war profits that prevailed over the self-survival instinct of global security.
Until the introduction of neoliberalism no society had ever let its economic contingent seize the reigns of power and let the economic leaders of a society fully supersede the power of political function of a society. Prior to neoliberalism economic activity was deemed to require political supervision not the other way around. Yes, powerful economic players always had a large say in government but not a self- regulatory one or that of an overlord. Governments regulated industry, industry didn’t fully direct governments. Reagan and Thatcher infected the world with the cancer of neoliberalism and now the it’s becoming terminal. Does this have direct bearing on Ukraine. Most assuredly, because anyone that had taken the red pill could see that Ukraine had nothing to do with common sense and everything to do with profits.
Is there no treatment for this cancer? Well, it should be cut out but that’s a very touchy operation that might destroy the host if done too suddenly. What we do have available, so far, is the chemo-therapy of diplomacy so that the world can live a little longer and yet have some relief from the pain of fear it currently suffers. There’s another more evasive cure, the one many of your best dictators use; it’s called fascism. The fascists leaders would simply cut out the infection by putting many neoliberals to death and expropriating their wealth. It works fairly quickly to restore health, and likely the way things will pan out sooner or later, but like most extreme cures it will only bring more drastic problems to the host and further ailments.
What would diplomacy look like? Well, let’s take a for instance. Let’s just say that NATO had originally conceded to a strip of land run through Ukraine to the Crimea in much the same way a strip ran through East Germany to Berlin. There was an American contingent in East Germany that required a pathway through East Germany from West Germany for supply and the Soviet Union made allowances. That method might have solved a problem for Russian with Ukraine. Just a thought, but many options must be offered at the table and I am not aware of all the facts and not a diplomat. Though that is the way of the diplomat, seeing what will work to relieve tensions and most importantly to save bloodshed. If the U.S. is going to regularly refuse serious negotiation and be viewed as a bully incapable of negotiation, we are in for a dim future as Russia and China grow stronger while we grow weaker. Perhaps there will come a day when they’re not interested in negotiation either when they feel they have gained supremacy. Well an old fashion type of businessman might’ve seen Ukraine as a modern silk road between the east and west throwing a monkey wrench into China’s silk road imitative and leveraging Russia away from China. Why didn’t anyone see this is beyond me. Well neoliberalism demands uniformity and the globalist agenda behind the specious philosophies is determined to have global dominance. That which I believe to be a quixotic dream.
The answer to my little day dream of Ukraine of prosperous east/west corridor is; what do mega corporations care about such initial meager profits drawn from a peaceful Ukraine when a warring Ukraine is much more profitable? They live by the stock market gains, so sorry folks who think they might accept some profits rather than ALL the profits. They live by the ticker convincing you of the worth of their stock by every cent of profit available being extracted regardless of the social cost. They don’t conduct business in a way most people understand as honest. Whether they can profit from creating baby formula or tampons is less important than how much they can make from fake shortages and how that could increase their bottom line. The world is held hostage to their profit and loss statements. If we all thought like that we would all be murdering each other for the insurance money.
For a moment let’s not look at these deep state elements for their ability to control politics in the U.S., that’s undeniable, but let’s look at their genuine ability to sustain a nation preceding forward into the future with such philosophies as neoliberalism. The political structures’ ability to supply a nation with goods and services and keep us out of senseless wars is a function they don’t seem to comprehend. Now I think you’re well ahead of me now. You would tell me, “But Mr. Dewolf, they’re not really interested in that. They just see the bottom line as you said.” Okay I agree, but how long can we sustain a society such as that when it continues to drain us dry? Has neoliberalism lost all common sense and sense of proportion? If they find that they have finally strangled the golden goose then what. It seems we can’t sustain these insane policies much longer. The debt is reaching bankruptcy proceedings level.
I suppose at the point they make a total mess out of a thriving nation, the main perpetrators, the oligarchs, will go silent, no more tv shows, no more rockets into space they’ll just fade into the woodwork. Then we’re at the mercy of politicians, ex-corporate lawyers who long ago forgot how to think for themselves or handle a situation. People who unquestioningly let corporate bought think tanks do their thinking for them. Folks, that time is rapidly coming upon us and Ukraine and foreign intervention expenditures is only accelerating that death spiral.
We should let Ukraine be a lesson to us. America once was a respected nation until neoliberalism, now we’re seen as bullies. We were certainly not perfect before Reagan but if we were self-centered then we were well meaning in many cases. That is the general population was, perhaps never was the ever-present deep state that represented exorbitant wealth. But there was a time when the deep state was tempered by the general Populus of the U.S. A population drawn from all the peoples of the world. Neoliberals see themselves as citizens of the world not of any particular nation. An easy type of an excuse for looting a country and then moving to the south of France when it all falls apart and people seek out who to blame. Leaving a country to possibly have to stoop to fascism to restore social cohesion and nobody in the world wants that from America, particularly not Americans.
The lesson Americans should be getting out of Ukraine is that while the grandiose American deep state and their captured political operatives live in a bubble of imaginary global dominance their unobtainable dream of a global empire have been destroying a once extremely prosperous nation. The globalists have been fertilizing their egotistical dreams since the days of Hamilton and have tried to put them into motion since the creation of the Council of Foreign relations in the 1920s; it is not worth the cost. While Putin and Xi Jinping work for the prosperity of their respective nations our politicians work for the good of multi-national corporations and their global economic designs, fed by oversized elite egos. Let me be the first to say this: the world is not ready for a one world government and won’t be until people conquer the greed impulse. If the U.S, continues along this obtuse course without much consideration it will soon destroy itself and every nation in the world and citizenry in the U.S. know it. Only the neoliberals and the Democrats and Republicans don’t see that, or perhaps they simply don’t care because they got theirs’s and they count on the American people foolishly forgiving them when they bankrupt us enriching themselves.
A first step to restoring sanity in this nation is to develop genuine honest diplomacy not completely compromised by neoliberalism. There is very little left to steal in this nation except the pensions of old people (and I assure you they know that) which will only further add to the homeless crisis and further burden working people forced to support their parents. There are few people left in this country, for we all know how’s it’s being run into the ground, except for the terminally naive, who would die in a war so they can rob other country anymore. We are all aware now that further wars just add to the costs we can’t afford. I suppose they can always create more economic desperation and count on that for their recruitment efforts. That diplomacy could have caught all the problems inherent in our involvement in Ukraine including its costs, is to me self-evident. A deal might have been struck early in this conflict that might have been mutually beneficial and actually create wealth rather than hoover it up to a few. Instead, Russia is winning the war hands down unless you believe what the legacy press tells you to see if their masters could get in a few last minute arms sales. They will only be weapons transshipped to fan other conflicts they will embroil us in. Nobody saw this? I did but of course I’m not a neoliberal— my brain functions independently.
Still it is amazing to me, but wouldn’t be to a diplomat that with each day our bargaining position gets worse. As more body bags fill on each side of the conflict the problem gets worse. At first Russia was just aiming for no Nato in Ukraine. Once they entered Ukraine and the body bags began to fill they would need something to show for it. So they would need a corridor to Ukraine. But now way too much blood has been split and Europe has become too threatening to Russia insisting upon ever more deadly weapons be shipped to Ukraine. The there are the sanctions. Same old trick take it out on the people so they overthrow a leader. Funny thing it never works. Though the financial sector still does business with Russia and is never expected to suffer in anyway whatsoever.
I suspect now that Russian went this far without negotiation offers of any substance they will insist on a permanent position in Ukraine and can now use Poland is a bargaining chip if they need to increase tensions again in Europe. Well great sales potential for arms dealers anyway. Americans can always pay to arm Poland now an only semi-democratic nation much like Russia. Meanwhile it is actually the Americans that are bankrupting themselves because the neoliberals—not really businessmen but Wall Street gamblers—foolishly see America as an endless kitty to be looted. For they take from the poor and give to the rich, a dyslexic Robin Hood scheme. The ship of state is now in the hands of people who long ago forgot how to think independently and the ship is getting stuck on a sand bar thanks to its senile Captain listening to pirates for navigation.
